Charlie Sawyer, Photographic Artist
charlie@charliesawyer.com

Charlie Sawyer bought his first 35mm camera in 1970. News and commercial photography helped him pay his way through college. After graduating with a communication degree, he worked as a TV videographer and editor as well as an independent film and video maker. He produced and directed many TV programs and commercials. He eventually went on to manage television stations.
In 1989 Charlie joined the faculty of the Florida State University Department of Communication, where he taught broadcasting, video production, and media aesthetics for 11 years. While on the faculty he continued to produce television programs.

The advent of digital photography brought him back to still imagery. In 2002 Charlie began photographing nautical and coastal scenes and selling the prints in gift shops and galleries and for commercial publication. He has since developed a passion for capturing images of Florida’s coastal wildlife in their natural habitats – particularly the exotic and beautiful wading birds. Charlie’s images capture the amazing dance that these magical creatures perform with each other and with the light and land and water around them.

A friend that I work with (Beth Frederick) has told me about a painting you have done on the St Marks River of Lynn Brothers Seafood. My husband is an owner of that business and I would love to see this painting.
Great stuff!!!!
Beautiful work!
